Overhear is a social podcast discovery app currently in private beta, run by Pistil Media Ltd.

We're based in London, United Kingdom, and act as the data controller for any personal data collected through this beta app.

What we collect

When you sign in or use Overhear, we may collect:

• Your name and email address (from sign-in or beta access form).

• Any content you add in the app, such as logs, notes, and lists

• Any issues or feedback you submit

• Timestamps of your activities and IP address (automatically logged for security)

• We don't collect payment details, location tracking data, browser/device fingerprinting, or third-party analytics at this stage of the beta.

How we use your information

We use this information to:

• Operate and maintain the Overhear beta app

• Review user feedback and technical issues

• Understand how people interact with the app so we can improve it

• Communicate with testers when needed

• Assess engagement data for product development and future investment planning

• We never sell or share your personal data with external companies for marketing.

Legal basis

Under the UK GDPR, our legal bases for processing your data are:

• Legitimate interests: operating and improving the beta version of Overhear

• Consent: where you actively agree to share feedback or optional contact details.

How we store and protect your data

Your data is stored securely using encrypted cloud services (Supabase, hosted in the United States).

Access is limited to authorised team members only.

We retain beta user data until the beta programme ends, or until you request deletion, whichever comes first.

• Ask us to correct or delete it

You can withdraw consent at any time Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been mishandled (www.ico.org.uk)

Technical Information Collection

The app automatically collects minimal technical information including:

Timestamps of your activities within the app IP address (for security and fraud prevention only, automatically logged by our authentication provider)

This information is collected automatically by Supabase (our authentication and database provider) and is used solely for security, fraud prevention, and troubleshooting technical issues.
